Five systems of relationship compatibility: why one is not enough
One system tells only part of the story. Several independent systems together show a more balanced picture, provided we read them separately and do not blend them.
FACT: On NumoSpira we look at relationship compatibility through five separate systems. Each is based on its own premises and its own set of meanings. Together they offer multiple perspectives, but they never merge into a single 'compatibility score'.
1. Pythagorean numerology
We compare the Life Path Numbers of both people and, optionally, the Destiny Numbers (from full names). A match does not automatically mean happiness, but it shows where the partners are closer in natural tendencies and where they function differently.
2. Western astrology (sun sign only)
We use only the sun sign, not the full birth chart. This is a deliberate limitation: the sun sign is widely accessible, reliable enough from the date of birth, and does not require the time and place of birth. Descriptions follow established sun-sign interpretations without extensions to elements, modalities, or aspects.
3. Chinese 12-animal zodiac
The sign is determined by the year of birth in the lunar calendar. Compatibility is read through the descriptions of the two animals, without using triads or concepts of opposition. The interpretation is descriptive, not prescriptive.
4. Vietnamese Can Chi
A related but separate system with the cat instead of the rabbit. Descriptions are kept separate, without carrying meanings over from the Chinese version. Here too we do not use triads or oppositions.
5. Date compatibility
A direct comparison of birth dates: difference in days and months, matches in numerical patterns. The technically simplest layer, useful for quick orientation.
Why we do not mix them
FACT: Each system has its own language. The element 'fire' in Western astrology is not the same as 'fire' in the Chinese tradition of the five elements. A sun sign is not a substitute for a Life Path Number. RECOMMENDATION: Read each result separately and notice where different systems converge on the same trait, and where they diverge.
What is forbidden on NumoSpira
We do not use triads (San He), oppositions (Dui Chong), the assignment of elements to animals, the full birth chart, compatible numbers, or new unverified meanings. These are extensions that different schools interpret differently, and we omit them so the analysis stays consistent.
How to read the combined result
RECOMMENDATION: Five systems are five independent perspectives. If four out of five show a similar pattern (for example, a challenge around communication), that is a more reliable signal than a single standout result. If the systems diverge, that is not an error; it is different facets of the same relationship.
